Top Blog Posts of 2015

2015 is almost finished and was my first year of blogging.

According to statistics, my top 3 most popular blog posts  in 2015 are as follows:

  1. 9 Purebred Cat Rescue Groups
  2. Coconut Oil Hairball Remedy
  3. How to Make Raw Cat Food

The posts I am more proud of:

All posts regarding feeding raw cat food because that was the reason I started this blog to begin with. Before I started feeding raw I struggled and spent countless hours researching an easy and complete way to make cat food. I almost gave up because I thought it was too much work. I’m so happy I didn’t and this is why I want to share how non-complicated it can be with others. I have many more posts coming about raw feeding very soon.

Second would be these two DIY posts. Not only because I think they are beautiful, but they are the most loved and used cat items in our home. The scratcher is predominately used by Cornelius, and he uses it everyday. I know it will last forever because I can always replace the sisal rope.

The teepee, is just too precious and was free to make. They are constantly sleeping together under it and it really just melts my heart watching them enjoy it so much.

Lastly a post that was not as popular but a topic that is very important is me is my post on wood pellet litter and a DIY litter box to go with it. Wood pellet litter has completely changed my experience living with cats and I could NEVER imagine going back to clay litter again.

For 2016 I would love to know what type of posts you would like to see more of. Please leave your ideas, questions and suggestions in the comments and subscribe!

All the best to you in 2016!

Thank you and Happy New year to you!
I can grind one batch of food from about 2-3 kilos worth without stopping to clear the grinder. After the batch there is lots of “left overs” in the grinder mostly bone pieces and yes “sinewy bits” but it through it out. But I’ve never had to stop mid-batch to clean out my grinder due to blockage.

But I imagine if I was making 5+ kilo at at time I would have to. How big are your batches? I am considering upgrading my grinder this year. Still a manual grinder, just a larger one.

I usually make only between 1.5 and 2 kilos at a time, but after about 700g, the grinder totally clogs up already, and I don’t buy any meat with bones, only fillets (and I mix in a supplement vitamin/powder called “Felini Complete” later).

Maybe it depends on the meat – and I don’t buy the cheapest, usually the medium priced one – sometimes I can get away with making 1 kilo before it clogs up.

Or maybe it’s my cheap, electric grinder – it only cost me €50, but then, I wouldn’t even know if I did spend more on a better one if it would be any different….

Oh, the joys of feeding raw, ey? ;)

It should not be clogging up if you are only grinding muscle! That’s frustrating. I grind lots of bone: chicken thighs, legs and necks and do not have that problem. My manual grinder only cost 30£ and works great.

Hello, and Merry belated Christmas to you and the kattens. I attach my Christmas card for you below. :)

I can’t think of anything regarding what type of post I would like to see. What you are doing already is just perfect and every post you put up is fun to read, and the variety of topics is great too.

I would like to ask you a question… Does your meat grinder get clogged up with those white chewy bits after a few minutes too?

I always cut most of those bits off the meat, especially in turkey, which always has a very big “sinewy” white bit in the middle, but my grinder still gets clogged very quickly and I have to stop doing what I do and take it apart and unclog it before continuing with more meat… do you experience the same frustration with this?
