Cat Window Perch for Small Windows

I have many beautiful windows in my apartment that face the west and get amazing sun. I wanted to get a window perch for my cats to sunbath up high, but because my windows are so narrow I didn’t think it was possible.

I searched and searched for a window perch, small enough to fit and finally I found one!

K&H Pet Products EZ Mount Cat Scratcher Kitty Sill Cradle

This window perch is 11″ x 20″ inches (53x55cm) which is one of the smallest on the market. It suctions to the window and can hold up to 60lbs / 27kilo.

The cradle is a cardboard cat scratcher and replacements are available for $13.

Looking at the structure with the cardboard removed it looks quite easy to make your own DIY version using strong fabric or to make a weaving with coconut rope like I did with my DIY balcony tower.

I am impressed on how well the suction holds to the window. Cornelius is 5 kilos/11lbs when he jumps up onto the perch it is stable and doesn’t move at all. It has been up for 2 months now and has never fallen down. It can also fold up easily against the wall if you wanted to pull the curtains shut.

There are so many beautiful cat shelves on the market but these require you to drill them into the walls. While I would love to have these, as a renter I don’t want to drill loads of holes in my walls. So this suction perch is the prefect choice.

This has quickly become Cornelius’ new favorite sleeping spot as well as scratcher. Do you have a window perch in your home? Which one do you use?
