Music and Videos for Cats

Videos and Music for your cat? Yes they do exist.

Relax My Cat

First: Relax My Cat.

Their claim:

Our music is based on feline vocal communication and environmental sounds that pique the interest of cats; it is written in a musical language that is uniquely designed to appeal to the domestic cat. All of the music is recorded on traditional instruments and the human voice. No actual cat, mouse, or bird calls are used (although it may sound like it). The songs are written in three different styles – each song style is designed to convey and evoke a particular mood:

+ Music to help your cat sleep
+ Playtime music for cats
+ Music to soothe separation anxiety
+ Music to help calm scared cats/kittens
+ Music to relax pregnant cats
+ Wake up music for easy mornings

You can find them on iTunes, YouTube and an App for your smart phone.

I have to admit their music is very soothing.  I myself always need music or noise to fall asleep to, and their music worked perfectly. While I’m not sure about it healing separation anxiety or stress in a cat’s life. I do think it could be useful especially for the first few days and weeks of bringing a kitten home.  It is good to get them used to different sounds and noises. I wish I would have used this the first few weeks.

When Cornelius was an only cat, I believe he had a very hard time being alone, as my neighbors said he was always meowing at the door. I would have defiantly tried this. But he doesn’t have these issues now that he has a cat friend.

The YouTube Videos are great because they range from 30 minutes up to 10 hours of music!

(They also have music for dogs: iTunes and App.)

And the opposite of relaxing is stimulating videos. My cats love watching videos of birds and small animals.

They are mentally very stimulating for cats, especially those who can’t go outside. Here are a couple super high quality videos my cats love.

Just don’t let your cats scratch or computer or TV!

these are great! Thanks for sharing! My first cat used to love to watch cat videos. I had one called “Betty Bird” that he adored.
My current cat never goes outside and right now I am playing the bird and squirrel one and he is ignoring it lol. I will try with him again later.
As for the music to relax my cat, if he gets any more relaxed we are in trouble lol. Now, my dog is another story!

I know what you mean. Most cats do not have any problem relaxing and sleeping. So when cats do struggle with this it really is a concern.
