I have been using the Poopoopeedo litter box for 3 years and I still love it. The quality, design, easy of use, I love everything about it just with it was a bit bigger. Which is what lead me on my search to “upgrade” my cute litter box for my small kitchen.
Litter Box Size
If you ask a cat, they will always prefer a large uncovered litter box. It is us that want a discrete cute covered litter box. Currently, with two cats I have two boxes, the Poopoopeedo in the kitchen and a large DIY box on the balcony. But during the cold wet winter months the cats do not always have access to the balcony. I noticed that when given the choice, the cats always prefer the larger box.
I have to say, in general, I find almost all modern beautiful litter boxes on the small size. I researched many boxes and what sold me on the Igloo litter box was the design and large size.
For how well designed and estically pleasing this box it is it is quite large.
21.6 x 19.3 x 21.6 inches ; 8.16 pounds
One of the Igloo’s major selling points is the grated doorway which is designed to let the litter fall back into the basin and the inner privacy wall. Personally, I don’t care about privacy (I don’t think cats do either). I use wood pellet litter so tracking is not a major concern for me. A larger box is more important to me and my cats. Before purchasing this box, my plan was to remove this wall and step. Using a screwdriver you can unscrew the 6 screws which attach the inner wall and step to the top of the dome.
Removing these inner pieces opened up about 25% of the Innside. That is so much space being taken up unnecessarily in my opinion. I am so happy to give my cats a large more open feeling toilet.
The entire igloo is made of food contact grade polypropylene(pp) IONPURE®, an antimicrobial technology from Japan that is used as a safety guard for babies and children. In 2006, this litter box won the highly respected international Red Dot award for design.
Cons
The one thing that is missing is a handle or an easier way to remove the top lid. It is large and a bit cumbersome to remove. I love the paw holes on the Poopoopeedo, I can quickly remove it with one hand.
It comes with a litter scooper, which is okay but nothing special. You can hook it and hang it inside but again I would rather give them more space. Below you can see that it is significantly taller than the Poopoopeedo.
In the photo below you can see exactly how much space is lost by the step and wall. It is important to note that to remove this piece you must unscrew 6 tiny screws. Which means even if you do use it to clean it would not be so easy as removing it is not a quick step.
Overall
The igloo has the perfect balance of a modern sleek litter box which is still large. This is the number one reason I love this box. If it wasn’t possible to remove the inner step and wall I wouldn’t be as impressed. For this reason I am so happy there is the option. I love the white color which makes it almost camouflage in my small kitchen.
The igloo is designed by a French company Pidan. It can be purchased from Amazon in the US for $130.
I understand that these are not cheap litter boxes. But they are also not made with cheap plastic that clings to smells. Because I use wood pellet litter, I only spend about $5 a month on cat litter. So I’m happy to invest more in a beautiful litter box that is not an eye sore in my home.

I’ve never seen one like that, I like the entry platform – that is a good idea.
That is a very interesting litter box, very modern looking. Thanks for linking up at the Cat Blogosphere.
